Fragmented OCR recounts a shipboard action with references to US Navy Bluejackets and deaths, mentioning Wilson, Mays, Parsons, and a heroic maneuver amid heavy casualties. The text blends memorialization with civic notices and a village meeting about expenditures and a 1908 tax levy in Preston Idaho, yielding a muddled heterogeneity of events. The dominant readable thread centers on seafaring courage and a local observance.
Fragmented text describes a grand parade at Mink Creek on the 24th led by local figures including H.C. Harsed and Brigham, traveling to Birch Creek grove. Indians are feared to ambush the march, with children to be kidnapped and women carried away. The march continues toward a meeting house with planned programs and a Sunday school opening.
An old village ordinance outlines general appropriation funds for the year ending May 1909. It allocates 3700 for salaries and debt, 300 for public improvements, 800.60 for road and street work, and 200.60 for electric light needs in the village, with revenues derived from licenses and other sources to be distributed accordingly.
