Preston Man Dies After Milk Truck Leaves Road

Orval Smith of Preston died Monday after his milk truck ran off a wet field and into a ditch following a heart attack. Sheriff Arlan Larsen said death occurred at the scene and was not a traffic fatality. Smith, born December 28, 1906, had hauled milk for Sego Milk Co. and Pet Milk since 1929 and left behind a wife Leatha Wheeler, five grandchildren, a daughter, and several relatives.

Franklin Dairymen Win Top Honors at Eastern Idaho Fair

Douglas Wright and his son William D. Wright earned two major awards at the Eastern Idaho State fair. They won the Premier Breeders award for cattle bred by exhibitors and the Premier Exhibitors award for the most first places, becoming one of the few Franklin men to sweep top prizes in a single year.
