Vote Deadline Nears On Wool and Lamb Promotion Referendum
Ballots mailed to sheep producers in September by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation service request votes on continuing a one cent per pound wool and five cents per pound lamb promotion levy. Funds come from incentive payments and are managed by the American Sheep Producers' Council. The Wool Act of 1954 authorized the program, now extended to March 31, 1966. A two thirds voting majority or two thirds of lambs and sheep represented by voters will approve the measure.
