Jeffersonian Democracy and the Threat to Representation
Paul Harvey warns that Jeffersonian democracy works best in agrarian regions and declines in big cities where one person one vote favors the less educated masses. He cites Tom Hayden, Lord Macaulay, and the risk of revolutionary upheaval as he urges return of government reins to responsible hands.

Idaho 1969 71 school budget seeks $132 million local share
The State Board of Education proposes a flexible 1969 71 budget totaling about 177.8 million for public schools with a 20.6 million increase in overall costs. It would fund a 500 a year teacher raise for 8,300 teachers and cover enrollment growth while leaving district decisions on salaries to local trustees. The plan would require counties and districts to add roughly 132 million in funding, with potential expansion of special education, 12 month elementary operation, and a summer kindergarten pilot. The Legislature could choose smaller raises if funds are tight.
