Services Held Friday For Lovie F White
Funeral services were held Friday noon at the Weston church house for Lovie F. White who died August 30 at a Salt Lake hospital. Bishop W. Maurice Tingey conducted. Talks by Thomas E. Rose and Charles Mickelson followed. Lyle Shipley sang Rock of Ages with his wife at the piano. Vaughn Taylor spoke and Bishop Tingey gave remarks. Benediction by Goff Schwartz. Burial in Malad cemetery under Webb mortuary direction.

About 18 members of a veteran training class visited Ogden last Friday as guests of Wayne Evans and the Franklin County Cooperative Grain Growers Association. They toured the Farmers Grain co op and the new dehydrating plant, with travel and dinner funded by the local organization.

Robert Beckstead 65 Dies at Preston Home
Robert Beckstead 65 died Sunday evening at 9 45 at his Preston home after a two year illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the first ward chapel with Bishop Ernest Eberhard Jr presiding. He was born January 18 1883 in Brigham City and married Sarah Ellen Tippe tt s October 30 1906 at Logan. He had lived in Preston 32 years and was an active Latter day Saint member.

Scout Program Gets Early Start Here Sunday
An early start of the Franklin County district scout program is planned Sunday at 2:30 PM in the Franklin Stake House. Dr. L. V. Merrill, district chairman, presides with Commissioner O. D. Robinson leading a scoutmasters session and program planning demonstration. Dan O. Henry of Los Angeles will visit September 13–17 for senior scouting conferences. Preston hosts Henry on September 15 for civic club introductions.

Voters Elect Trustees in East Side Class A District
Light voting in five East Side precincts gave L. M. Doney Kat Ballif Shirley Palmer O D Robinson and Dr. David Cutler the most ballots with Dr Cutler unopposed for a one year term. Precincts two three and four elected other trustees including Ballif Meek Geddes Campbell and Sant with bonds for a new school building winning 324 of 380 votes. Preston's all girl choir was chosen to sing at the Utah Municipal League Starlight Revue in Logan Amphitheater where about 1,000 people attended. A stage with Promised Valley sound equipment was built and guests included a New York soprano and stars from the University of Utah Show Boat. Tom McCoy of Salt Lake City presented a $1000 check. the choir also performed last Sunday in Pocatello Third Ward chapel.

Valley Scouts End Season With Record Camp Attendance
Cache Valley council hosted over 1000 campers as 75 Bridgermen returned from Salmon River country and Camp Hunt near Bear Lake closed after a two month season. The highlight was a wilderness camp in the Franklin basin with nearly 150 scouts from 12 troops.
