Glendale Completes 186 Foot Boat Ramp Extension

Volunteers completed a 186 foot extension at Glendale reservoir boosting total ramp length to over 500 feet with a 12 foot width. The project benefits major county reservoirs LaMont Glendale and Treasureton with four ramps at Twin Lakes. Financed by volunteers and groups, bid savings saved the state $1300. Restrooms added but vandalism and property damage reported at some sites.

Registration Days Set For City Election

City voters must be registered to vote in upcoming elections. Rhyl Swainston, city clerk, says registrations are open at the city office now through October 30. Office hours remain 8 am to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm on registration days. Registrars are Mr Swainston and Mrs Stella Peterson.

Idaho Residents Urged to Register for November Election

Idaho residents living in the city for six months and the city for three months who are 21 or older must register to vote in the November 2 election. Polls will be open 12 noon to 8 pm at the Legion Hall for south of Oneida Street and at the Cove concrete office for north of Oneida. Only one petition had been filed for a city council seat, Harold Pinson filing it for an unknown candidate.

Franklin County Road Projects Near Completion

Road work in Franklin County is nearly finished with two major projects completed and a third near completion. The Cleveland That cher section of Highway 34 between Preston and Grace awaits final detailing while signing and markings are wrapped up. Weston Canyon road paving is done, completing the route between Franklin and Oneida Counties, though the Weston road from Wespar to the county line remains unfinished. The I 15 four lane project from Arimo to McCammon should open soon barring bad weather, with only minor surface work, traffic signs, reflectors, and railing installation remaining. Contractor is Picket and Nelson of Ashes Ave. district highway engineer Orion Gunerud cited imminent completion in days.

Fish and G Plan Meeting in Franklin County Court House

Fish and G Plan and Fianklin County will hold a meeting Monday October 11 at 8 p.m. in the Court House Social Hall. Dalé Jensen, a bird biologist, will provide information on the Hen Pheasant Hunt.

Franklin County Adult Ed Courses Considered by Local Districts

Franklin County educators from East Side and West Side School Districts are weighing adult education courses taught by Idaho States University professors. Reed Brenchley of Ion High School says the two districts will decide on subjects and meeting times with input from residents. A Monday meeting is planned at 4 15 p.m. in the high school library with courses including Current World Politics Modern Math Literature Guidance and Bookkeeping. Courses may be held at East Side or West Side High Schools.

Full Day Scheduled for John Carver Day in Preston

A detailed itinerary outlines John Carver’s visit to Preston Idaho hosted by local leaders. Activities include speeches at Preston High School and West Side High School, a Rotary luncheon at Pop N Pins, a 4 to 6 p.m. information reception at the courthouse, and a concluding banquet at the Franklin County Courthouse. Carver, deputy secretary of the interior, will travel from Preston to Nevada October 11 then Salt Lake City before returning to Washington.
