West Side and Preston Seminaries Graduate 247 Students

The combined West Side and Preston high school seminaries graduated 247 students in two services last week separating four year and three year cohorts. Third year graduates numbered 138 with diplomas and 109 fourth year graduates were recognized. Speakers included Ernest Eberhard and Frank Day representing LDS church school system, with presiding officials Tom Dunn and Lee Davis.

Summer Opera Gets Approval

The Broadway musical Annie Get Your Gun will be produced in Preston this summer under a grant from the Idaho Commission on Arts and Humanities. A Snow College professor will direct the production with a two week rehearsal period. A public meeting is planned for June to discuss the show.

4H Members Ready For D C Tour

More than 40 4H club members form the D C or Bust group and plan a six day East Coast tour leaving Pocatello May 28. About 16 Franklin county members will join the trip costing about 350 dollars per member with 100 dollars earned by the club via fundraising. Stops include Casper Rapid City Sioux Falls Chicago Hamilton Ontario New York City Washington Charleston Louisville St Louis Abilene Denver and sites like a state park and Mayo Clinic.

Local Girl Injured In Traffic Mishap

A 16 year old driver struck a girl on a Preston cross walk as she walked to school at 8 50 am. The car had stopped to unload passengers and the driver attempted to pass a stopped vehicle. The child was taken to Preston hospital with bruises and a cut on an ear. She was sent home with her parents.
