Graduation Exercises Set for Preston High

Graduation exercises will be held Wednesday May 25 at 8 p.m. in the Preston high school auditorium. LeGrand Richards from the Council of the Twelve of the LDS church will be the main speaker. One hundred twenty three graduates will receive their blue and white caps and gowns.

Friday Program at Preston Seminary Opens Commencement

The 33rd annual Preston LDS Seminary commencement program is set for tomorrow evening at Franklin stakehouse starting at 3 o clock. Clark Johnson presides with addresses by Darrelyn Owens and Darrel G Gamble. The event includes the Girls sextet The Temple by the River and ends with diplomas awarded by Wilford W Sagers and a benediction by Stake Pres Shirley Pal.

Homemakers Elect Marie Orne As New President

The FHA banquet held Thursday May 5 featured Marie Orne as new president. Guests included Jean Gassman and Pauline Smith with piano solos and a guest speaker Miss Gilmore from the home economics department at USAC. Officers were announced and degrees enacted for several members.

Five-Mill Levy Proposed for School Budget

The five-mill levy plan was presented at the May budget hearing for the next school year. The proposed budget requests 447,732 dollars in expenditures with 448,073 dollars in anticipated revenue, requiring a five-mill levy rather than the three mills used in previous years. Voting will be at existing polling places for Fairview, Franklin, Whitney, Mink Creek, Riverdale, Winder, and Jefferson. polls open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a simple majority needed to pass.

West Side High School elects Gary Porter as student body president for the coming year. Porter, a senior basketball player and football participant, also served as junior yearbook business manager. Bond Proposal Falls Short In Eastside School Vote

Only 637 voters took part in Eastside school district ballot on Monday regarding issuing 180000 in bonds to finish the high school project. Of those, 396 supported the proposal and 241 opposed, failing to reach the required two thirds. turnout by townships including Baytoy Pee g Whitnay and Winder showed mixed results with small yes and no tallies.
