LDS Seminary Set to Graduate 115 Tomorrow in Franklin

One hundred fifteen students will graduate tomorrow night at the Franklin Stake house for the 1957 LDS Seminary class. William E. Berrett of Brigham Young University will deliver the commencement address. The program includes organ prelude, scripture readings, invocations, choir numbers, and diploma presentations by Oneida stake President Shirley Palmer.

Airman of the Month Named at Opheim AFB Mont

A-2c David W. Davis selected by his commander as airman of the month at the 779th A CG and W AIuRELOR Opheim AFB Montana. Davis earned the honor for dedication and extra hours spent preventing malfunctions. He is a crew chief over five men and plays piano in the base band. He enlisted after graduating from Preston High School and LDS Seminary in May 1955, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph G Davis of Preston.

Kiwanis Club Commended for Clean-Up Campaign

The Preston Chamber of Commerce civic betterment committee commends the Kiwanis Club for leading a recent clean-up week. Harold Olsen notes the effort was excellent and urges ongoing efforts with six yearly activities focusing on eyesore sites, health, and waste disposal.

BYU Vice President to Address Preston Seminary Graduates

William KE Berrett, BYU vice president, will deliver the commencement address to Preston LDS Seminary graduates tomorrow evening. A longtime LDS Church leader, he served on the general Sunday School board 1937 to 1945, led the east Millcreek stake presidency 1945 to 1946, and held roles in Fairbanks Alaska and on the Sunday School general board 1947 to 1954. He taught religion at BYU from 1948 to 1953 and remains BYU vice president.

Smith of Salt Lake City travels with University of Utah faculty and students to California for the annual symposium of west coast and intermountain student composers at the University of Redlands. Legion Auxiliary selects two for Girls State

The Preston American Legion Auxiliary names high school juniors Dineen Choules of Preston and Kerma Neuenswander of Weston for the 11th annual Girls State at the College of Idaho Caldwell starting June 28. Dineen and Kerma were chosen for leadership, character, honesty, scholarship, cooperation, courage and fitness.

American Legion Elects Officers in Preston

Harold Winn is the newly elected commander of the Preston American Legion post with installation held last Thursday. New officers include Legrand Spatig as first vice commander and Don Y Magy second vice commander, with Howard Johnson adjutant and Charles W. Peterson chaplain among others. Also listed are 186 Utah State University winter honor roll students including George Jensen, Larry Bailey Kerr, Jay Schwaneveldt, and Laura Beutler, all achieving top grades in their schools.

Rhyl Swainston Named New City Clerk

Rhyl Swainston of the Preston water department has been appointed city clerk to replace C Goff who resigned after serving since 1936. Swainston is well known at City Hall and will take over clerk duties in addition to his water office duties under Mayor O Sherwin Webb.

National Guard Plans Open House Saturday in Preston

The Idaho National Guard unit in Preston will host Armed Forces Day open house Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Preston city armory the old opera house. A presentation of Idaho service ribbons will honor 19 members active for one year to April 15. A display of army equipment and a dance in the evening will celebrate six months training at Fort Knox.
