Creditors of the Joseph Larsen estate must present their claims with vouchers to the administrator at Preston Franklin County Idaho within four months after first publication. First published March 23 1961. Last publication April 13 1961.
In San Antonio on March 18 a Union general David E Twiggs surrendered Texas forces to Confederate leaders after seeking relief from command. The capitulation followed a January request to be relieved and led to a Texas secession vote of 34 794 to 11 235. Col Robert E Lee was noted passing through after the surrender. A woman witness described Col Lee as distraught.
Washington March 16 Montgom ery Blair Postmaster General said the first major blowup in Lincoln s cabinet was narrowly averted after Blair reportedly quit in protest over Sumter action. Lincoln promised quick Sumter action and Blair s resignation was reversed following talks with Francis Preston Blair and the elder Blair. Blair the younger, at 48, was the cabinet s youngest member and urged relief for Sumter.
