Utah Power and Light seeks rate increase across home and industrial sectors
The Utah Power and Light Company filed a request for higher general rates for commercial and residential customers. It argues costs rose since 1943 including a 38.5 percent consumer price index increase and payroll up 66 percent, coal costs up about 60 percent, and Idaho taxes up 46 percent. The company says current rates do not yield an adequate return and asks mid year implementation to generate about 83 thousand dollars pre tax in 1949 to support capital needs. Utah Power & Light plans a simultaneous increase in Utah.
