Farm Safety Week Aims to Cut Farm Accident Losses
The week of July 23 29 is designated Farm Safety Week with the National Safety Council guiding efforts and support from state and federal agencies. About 18,500 farm deaths occur yearly with 1.5 million injuries and 70,000 permanent disabilities. Farm fires claim 3,500 lives and $100 million in property annually, with 39 percent of deaths from falls and 25 percent from burns.
