William H. Carter Dies in Clifton at 86
William Henry Carter aged 86 dies at his daughter’s Clifton home after a two year illness. Born March 7, 1866 in Lemmington England he came to the United States as a child. He worked as a railroad engineer for Union Pacific before retiring in 1930. He lived in Preston and Logan and was active in LDS church service. Surviving are his wife, six children, 37 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren. Funeral held in Preston Second Ward chapel.

Preston fire department was called Friday at 9 30 a m to the Corio co service station on South State street to battle a blaze caused by welding near a drain filled with gas and oil. Firefighters extinguished the flames before serious damage occurred.

Hereford bull undefeated at major shows joins county herd
Two local men and a Grace resident purchased Dr Star Duke 2nd, a Hereford yearling bull undefeated in southwest shows. The bull, from Hess ranch McLean Texas, won Denver National and drew visitors from Montana and Wyoming to Don Carter ranch near Preston to view the animal.
