Dayton Postmistress Turned Trash Mail Collector
Mrs Myrtle Waddoups, longtime Dayton postmistress, began collecting stray mail envelopes after her husband Ivan died in 1849. She organized 1709 items into rubber bands by date, each with a self addressed return envelope. She suspects many solicitations were sent to multiple groups, and continues handling the work as a hobby and link to her family history.
