Advisory Committee To Air Unger Levy and Site Plans

The Eastside school district schedules an advisory committee meeting to discuss a contemplated levy election and to select alternate grade school sites. The district holds over $70,000 in reserve and expects $10,000 more in interest and bond funds if a facilities levy is approved.

Dayton Man Joins Apollo 14 Rescue Crew Aboard USS New Orleans

David M Stevenson of Dayton serves with the Helicopter Rescue Squadron based at Imperial Beach California. He and a companion operate radio and communication gear on the USS New Orleans in the South Pacific during the Apollo 14 astronauts pickup mission. Stevenson, son of Merlin and Mrs Stevenson, formerly of West Side High School Ogden, enlisted February 1968 and trained in San Diego and Memphis. He previously flew rescue missions over Vietnam from Cubi Point Philippines and Gulf of Tonkin aircraft carriers. He reports from Samoa that the team is ready for Tuesday’s rescue operation.

Area To Host Dairy School Next Week

Horace Haworth announced the Franklin County Mid-Winter Dairy School will be held February 18-19 at the William Robinson Community Building Franklin County Fairgrounds. The two day event features lectures panels and farm tours to help local dairymen improve operations with new ideas. Thursday program begins at 10 a.m with Dr. Robert C Lamb USDA scientist from Logan Utah presenting Selecting Your A I Sires Breeding Costs Per Cow Replacement. At 11 a.m. a dairy panel moderated by Dr. Norman Erickson will discuss Milking Procedures with Conan Foster John LeFevre Gene Hawkes and Ward Nielsen. The group will have a no host luncheon at 12 15 p.m. Nyal Rydalch will discuss proposed farm labor legislation in the Idaho legislature. The afternoon program continues.

Heart Fund Drive Kicks Off In Preston District

The Preston business district campaign for the Heart Fund started last week and continues this week led by Mr and Mrs Robert C Stone. Helpers include Mr and Mrs Lee Prescott Mr and Mrs Larry Hodges Linda Bright Robert Acock and Mrs Pat West. Diane Herd daughter of Garland and Mrs Herd of Preston was capped Sunday at Ricks College as one of 46 freshman nursing students capped there.

Dayton Maintains Water Rate for Year

Dayton keeps water service charges at 90 cents monthly for the year with potential changes next year. Meters will be repaired and read for study to allow an appraisal in setting rates. Violations of hydrants or water waste may lead to loss of privileges or a fine up to $100 or both. The council plans talks with Weston on better telephone service and fire protection for the area. The annual meeting of the Franklin County Wool Growers is set for 1:30 p.m. in the county courthouse court room. The agenda includes financial report officer elections sale of wool sacks and ties and discussions on core testing of wool and predator control.
