Swine influenza spreads rapidly in herds
The disease strikes quickly once a pig gets sick, with the whole herd down within two to three days. Pigs cough, refuse food, run fevers, and have hard jerky breathing. Most recover in five to six days if no complications occur, but deaths are rare and vitality and weight drop. Pregnant animals often lose part of their litter.
