Chamber of Commerce Leads Franklin County War Effort
The Preston Chamber of Commerce reports a year of extensive war activity centered on community service for the war effort. Highlights include two successful waste paper drives raising over 1000 dollars, support for war loans, honors for Private Nathan Van Noy Jr., and active public programs on farm chemistry and Malayan jungles. The group also finished the Preston Grace highway, welcomed new businesses, fostered agriculture and irrigation initiatives, and planned postwar projects through its committees. It funded a 500 contribution to the Preston High School Band and hosted the annual rodeo with strong turnout.
