County Fair Keeps Moving With Exhibits Through Saturday

Franklin County fair runs through Saturday with flower poultry and rabbit entries and 4-H horse projects. Fat stock judging Saturday at noon, horse pulling, Junior Shodeo Friday, Senior 4-H Shodeo at 8 pm, and Farm Bureau Fun Day on Saturday with various activities. Admission 2 dollars adults 50 cents children.

Registration Set For Pres ton High Students

Principal Al Koch of Preston High School announces August registration for students. New students and unregistered students may register Wednesday August 24 from 9 30 to noon and 1 30 to 4 pm. Freshmen August 25 9 to noon, sophomores August 25 2 to 4 pm, juniors August 26 9 to noon, seniors August 26 1 to 4 pm. A $15 registration fee applies and locker assignments plus computer class schedules will be distributed. Fees unchanged from last year.

Del Bosen dies prominent Preston businessman

Dell H. Bosen born August 3 1927 in Riverdale died Wednesday morning of a heart attack at Franklin County hospital. He married Colleen Stark in 1953 at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and lived in Preston most of his life where he was a Conoco Oil district agent. A LDS high priest and Lions Club member, he served in the Navy in World War II and as an LDS mission to Denmark. Funeral services set for noon Saturday.

Grain harvest half way complete yields below area norms

Grain co op officials report harvest about half finished with quality good but production down. Wheat expected to be 40 percent lower and barley 30 percent, while irrigation barley and wheat yields vary by location and water use. Traders note little activity as growers store excess on farms.

Budget Hearing Today in Pres ton City on 1978 Plan

Public hearing on the tentative 12 month budget of 1 652 174 91 for Pres ton City is set for today at 4 p m in City Hall. The plan includes a 500 000 federal EDA grant for a new water line and nearly 300 000 in city matching funds.

Toddler In Critical Condition After Driveway Accident

A 15 month old Preston infant Michael Moosman son of Kay and Moosman of 241 East 2nd reported critical after a Buick station wagon driven by the mother ran over him in the driveway Monday at 10 17 am He was playing unseen by the mother and was rushed by Franklin County ambulance to Preston hospital then transferred to Ogden hospital for emergency care.
