Preston Idaho 1954 highlights and local notes
A 1954 Preston recap covers a UFO sighting misidentified as a weather balloon and a street parking shift approved by Mayor Rulon Dunn. It recalls Franklin County fishing and magpie drives, bird banding prizes, and nest burning campaigns. Notable mentions include Idaho Mother of the Year Eldora Maughan and local rodeo and beauty pageant winners with a 101 degree July day. Two five year olds took car keys, prompting lock-your-vehicles advice as 65 sets were reported missing.
