Interest rate cut on government life insurance loans
Government life insurance loan rates fall from five to four percent effective immediately. Vincent Hunt, Preston representative, says the change affects policy loans only and aligns with commercial life insurance trends. About 127,000 World War I and World War II veterans hold loans totaling over 115 million dollars, with annual savings exceeding 1 million dollars. This is the second rate cut in seven years, the first reducing the rate from six to five percent on July 19, 1939.
