Suit Planned By Graziers Over Auction Cancellation
Boise reports a lawsuit planned by Preston based graziers over the State Land Board canceling a 46 900 acre grazing lease auction in Caribou County and extending current leases for one year. Veterans and Southeastern Idaho Grazing associations claim proper notice was not given and opening bids totaled 29798 with bids ranging from 30 cents to 110 per acre. The board voted to hold an auction in 1965 and investigate conflicts. Gov Smylie says legal action is likely regardless of board action.
