Lost fortune forged in Vietnam kickback scheme
A West Virginia man, former Army captain Simmons, admitted embezzling about 4.3 million dollars in a Vietnam petroleum kickback scheme. He set up dummy Hong Kong companies and received millions in payments for supplies never delivered, using profits for jewelry, cars, and condos. He faces a five year federal prison term and a ten thousand dollar fine.
