European unite urged against US in plane competition
French Premier Pierre Messmer urged a united Europe to compete with American builders in air craft markets during the unveiling of Europe's first Airbus A300B prototype and the Concorde. He praised a united Europe plan to boost productivity, lower costs, and expand markets for Airbus and Concorde against Boeing 747 Tristar and DC10. Thirteen Airbus orders valued at 15 million each were announced, with buyers including Air France Iberia and a Danish carrier.
