Independent Sailors Aim Cape Horn Crossing in 19-Foot Canoe
Montreal sailor Lachapelle and his 22-year-old cousin Bilodeau pilot a 19-foot canoe from Vancouver toward Cape Horn and back to Montreal. They’ve logged 2100 miles so far in a two-year journey, sleeping ashore, watching weather, and refitting at Long Beach marina. They average 40 to 60 miles daily, ignore political concerns, and cope with rough waves from passing pleasure boats.
