Detective and decoy trap kill Brooklyn rapist killer Gumby
New York police used a closet stakeout and a decoy officer in a satin gown to trap a serial rapist and strangler. Charles Gumby, 37, died as officers fired into a bathroom when he returned to the scene. Police linked him to earlier rapes and murders of two Brooklyn women, Miss Janet Chisholm and others, via fingerprint evidence. Chisholm, injured but alive, identified Gumby as her attacker.
