Marines Drive Bombers Into Viet Nam Buffer Zone

U S Marines and B52 bombers pressed operations in the six mile buffer zone between North and South Vietnam. Predawn raids from Guam hit enemy troop concentrations while Marines moved inland near the coast and tracked down elements of the reorganized 8248 North Vietnamese division. Reports say nine North Vietnamese were killed and that U S forces burned the village of Lien Hoa after earlier aircraft were shot down. U S Carrier Rescues 46 Off Freighter

A U S aircraft carrier from the 7th Fleet rescued all 46 crew of the Hong Kong registered freighter August Moon after it broke up in heavy seas about 200 miles southeast of Hong Kong in the South China Sea.
