Grito de Dolores sparked Mexico’s fight for independence
On the night of Sept 15 1810 the parish priest Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla issued the cry for independence in Dolores. The uprising, driven by opposition to Spanish rule, spread through Guanajuato and Guadalajara and shaped Mexico’s path to liberty. Mexico later gained independence in 1822 after long struggle and trials. Our best wishes go to Mexico on its 167th Independence Day.

Shuster Calls NHTSA Airbag Demo Phony
Rep. Bud Shuster accuses the NHTSA airbag demonstration of being substantially different from real airbags. He says production airbags inflate faster, cannot be repacked, and require higher replacement costs, using sodium azide instead of nitrogen. He questions federal mandatory airbags and has a concurrent resolution to disapprove the order, with an Oct. 19 deadline.
