Firefighters halted a Sierra Nevada forest blaze that entered Pollock Pines evicting SAM residents. Four homes seven mobile homes and a motel were lost as wind fanned 20 mph flames. More than 30 acres burned with damage estimated at 225000 as residents returned and highway access reopened.

Berkeley Realtor Abducted Three Days Freed
Jack C. Setzer a 43 year old Berkeley real estate man and immediate past president of the Berkeley Board of Realtors was abducted from his office by three hippie type suspects. He was held for three days in a rustic mountain cabin and was found safe Saturday night in Susanville about 200 miles northeast of Berkeley.

Body of 15-Year-Old Diver Recovered Off Corona del Mar
Newport Beach lifeguards recovered the body of 15-year-old James Gregory Crowley from the ocean near Corona del Mar after he disappeared while diving with friend Jeffrey Chanley.
