Rabies Tragedy Averted by Quick Search Across Country
A rabies scare near a Torrance family’s Mexico trip prompted a nationwide alert. Three Sanchez daughters and a neighbor girl were bitten by a rabid Pekingese in Mexico City. Thanks to truckers, taxi drivers, police, and church leaders, warnings spread to Alamos and Guatavampo just as treatment began. Pasteur shots started promptly, preventing a worse outcome.
