Los Angeles Zoo Shuts Children’s Section Over TB Testing
The Los Angeles city zoo keeps the children's section closed as officials study possible tuberculin virus exposure after a sheep and goat tested positive on tuberculosis tests. Both animals were killed, but officials stressed a positive test does not prove disease and visitor risk is remote. Southern California animal experts will be invited to review the giraffes’ deaths amid protests by a citizens group claiming neglect.
