California gas shortage study forecasts supply decline
The California Public Utilities Commission warned that Call-Tortia’s natural gas supply will decline over the next decade while demand rises, with consumption at 6.0 million cubic feet per day expected to grow about 27 percent by 1981. A 24 percent drop in available gas from all sources could affect firm customers on peak cold days, though households likely won’t see reductions. The commission urges continued efforts to secure gas from Alaska, Canada, Australia and South America.
