Federation to Divest Teen Posts as Local Agency Sets Takeover
The Long Beach federation plans to divest two controversial Teen Posts by December 21, transferring oversight to new administrative agencies. Isobel Clark says the federation will focus on settlement houses and Head Start while the Youth Opportunities Agency oversight shifts. Officials cite budget, safety, and management issues in the posts, with changes aimed at delinquency prevention and job development as programs reorganize. The future of the six Long Beach posts and the Neighborhood Adult Participation Project remains uncertain amid proposed rebranding and county-wide versus local control debates.
