Building permit shuttling ends in new procedure
City Building Department announces a change eliminating the six block shuttle between City Hall and Public Safety. The Fire Prevention Bureau will send a representative to the building office where both departments review plans and note corrections. Superintendent Edward M. Girl Slasher Faces Trial in Arizona
Thomas Kelley an 18 year old Ft Ord soldier is ordered held for trial at Yuma Arizona in the throat slashing of eight year old Susan Kipp on the Southern Pacific Sunset Limited train on August 24. Kelley is charged with assault with intent to commit murder after a preliminary hearing in Yuma Justice Court.

MTA Abandons Mid Street Bus Loading Downtown Long Beach
The Metropolitan Transit Authority halted mid street loading and unloading and moved bus stops to curbside in downtown Long Beach Boulevard after Bureau of Franchises concerns for passenger safety. Pull through stops were made effective at all boulevard intersections. Chief Engineer Henry Jordan cited 120 foot long stops to accommodate four MTA lines and five Long Beach Motor Bus Co lines.

Four Street Dividers to Be Improved in Long Beach
