Federal safety standards set for on road autos
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced minimum federal safety standards for cars on the road, targeting brakes steering suspension tires and wheels. States will have to adopt or risk losing federal highway funds. Standards cover wear and degradation as factors in accidents and apply to vehicles under 10,000 pounds though larger models will be announced later.
