Nixon Maintains Edge In National Poll Lead
Nationwide polls show Nixon with a substantial lead over McGovern before the election eight days away. Time magazine and New York Times survey of 3,010 registered voters in 16 key states from Oct 15 to 25 put Nixon at 56 percent to McGovern's 30, with earlier readings at 57 to 27. Gallup mid-October figures echo Nixon’s advantage though show slimmer margins on party leadership and peace prospects.
