Wholesale Prices Dip .1% as Farm Products Decline
The government reports a 0.1 percent October drop in the wholesale price index led mainly by a 3.8 percent fall in farm products. Industrial commodities rose 0.7 percent, driven by new 1971 car models and higher coal and power costs. The index stood 3.2 percent above a year ago. The report is preliminary. The 12 leading economic indicators fell 12 percent in September, with the auto workers strike delaying full movement assessment and no reflection until the strike ends.
