Abzug and Ryan Widow Duel For New York Seat
In New York City a contest unfolds between Bella Abzug and Priscilla Ryan over a Manhattan district seat. Ryan, widow of Rep. William Fitts Ryan, runs as Liberal candidate while Abzug seeks to retain a liberal majority with Republican and Conservative challengers also on the ballot. The race hinges on party splits and McGovern coattails amid Manhattan West Side politics.
