Fires Kill 13 In Three Blazes Amid Arson Probe
A string of fires in Salt Lake City and Victor Idaho left 13 dead and at least 10 injured. Investigators suspect arson in one blaze as authorities described elderly victims found in a three story Salt Lake City brick building. Fire officials said a custodian saw a young man near the building before the 10:10 pm blaze. Firefighters battled the flames as residents fled, two firemen were hurt but released from hospital. In Victor Idaho a separate blaze killed five members of a family in their beds at a log home, with a neighbor reporting a neighbor observed the flames. Fire officials reported water shortages hampered extinguishing efforts and arson was being considered in both cases.
