Graham May Take Crusade to Rome in 1973
American evangelist Billy Graham said in Rome he may take his Crusade for Christ to the city in 1973 following St Paul’s example. He noted about 40 percent of Roman youth do not attend Mass, citing a spiritual vacuum, and said he would avoid causing opposition in other churches if he visited. He said Catholics and priests had written prayers for the possible trip but he had no contact with Italian Vatican officials. He added he would come with no strings if he goes.

Nixon warns against unreal hopes for Moscow Peking trips
President Nixon cautioned Americans not to harbor unreal expectations about his forthcoming journeys to Moscow and Peking. Speaking on Veterans Day eve from Camp David, he said the United States is ending an unpopular war in Vietnam while working to prevent future wars and that his trips aim to support that goal. He noted differences remain among nations but highlighted shared values and the desire for veterans to avoid bearing the burden of peace through unemployment. The president, spending a weekend in the Catoctin Mountains, also referenced ongoing discussions for his China visit with Henry Kissinger and the plan for talks with Chinese leaders in Peking.
