Sailors recount hurricane fury on Fogg as ship rolls
PORTSMOUTH VA Navy destroyer escort Fogg rode 40 foot waves in a hurricane off the Atlantic. Ten sailors endured 60 to 73 mph winds and 40 foot swells, towing via Chilula and Kiowa with no generator or lights. They slept little, ate cereal and peanut butter, and kept watch in the wardroom as the tow line held. No injuries occurred, and the crew remained confident they'll survive the ordeal.
