Ex tackle turned QB leads El Camino against Long Beach City
Jeff Austin a former defensive tackle at South Torrance High and all league baseball star is El Camino's No 1 quarterback. He passed for 1906 yards as a freshman helping the Warriors tie Pierce for the Metropolitan Conference crown and aims for a state title. He credits coach Ken Swearingen and Carl Mersola for developing his passing and receiving timing. Austin expects a passing duel with Pete Tereschuk as LBCC visits Veterans Stadium, while acknowledging a strong running game could decide the outcome. He remains undecided about future sports, hoping to continue football and baseball, injury permitting.
