Labor Gets Little Out of Congress

Washington reports that organized labor ended the 89th Congress with a batting average of .250. Labor failed on its top goal to repeal Taft Hartley Act section 4B, saw no action on easing construction site picketing, and could not reconcile unemployment benefit reforms. Its only clear victory was raising the minimum wage to 1.60 by 1968 and extending coverage to more workers, including some farmhands.
