The 82 year old aviation pioneer Eddie Riebenbacker is listed as satisfactory and much improved after a heart attack. He remained in intensive care at Miami's Marcy Hospital since Oct 11, with doctors saying his condition is no longer serious.
High tide at 10 23 a m Tuesday will be used by salvage crews to refloat the S S Liberty aground about 600 yards off San Pedro. Divers will observe hull conditions while a helicopter unloads cargo to a barge as 43 tons of cargo removed and oil transferred to a sludge barge for refinery disposal.

In Covina West, an 18 year old youth arrested Sunday night on assault and armed robbery charges hanged himself in his cell minutes after booking. The body of Shawn Otterback was found using a noose fashioned from a T shirt, about 16 minutes after intake. He was arrested at his home for allegedly threatening his mother with a knife and a broken bottle.
