Four men stop San Pedro bridge jumper in morning rescue
A 22 or 28 year old former Army captain described as despondent over marital problems was restrained by four San Pedro motorists on the Vincent Thomas Bridge at 6 24 a m. Rolando Cuevas of 267 Santa Cruz St San Pedro was persuaded to sit on the railing before the group tackled him. Police turned Cuevas over to the Fort MacArthur provost marshal and he was taken to Sasatelle Veterans Hospital. In Harbor City a later shooting outside 110 W 25th St left 22 year old Lawrence Corfin ez dead and Louis de la Torre 27 a longshoreman detained for questioning.

Fatal stabbing reported in Los Angeles hotel lobby
In Los Angeles a 7 year old man was stabbed to death in the Royal Palms Hotel lobby. Authorities say Thomas Edward Bennett was talking to a desk clerk when a man approached and stabbed him. Bennett collapsed on a dining room floor as the assailant fled. Police arrested Willian Sample 45 and booked him on suspicion of murder.
