AMC announced Monday it plans to acquire Kaiser Jeep Corp. The deal could push AMC’s annual sales beyond the billion-dollar level due to government contracts. Estimated cost of the acquisition is about 40 million dollars.
Brig. Gen. Earl F. Cole is being reassigned to Washington amid Senate hearings into irregularities in enlisted men clubs in Vietnam. Investigators link Cole to William Crum, leader of a Hong Kong slot machine firm, and Sgt. William Higdon. The probe also involves cited associates of Wooldridge and other officers facing alleged kickbacks and embezzlements. Cole previously ran personnel and administration at Long Binh and visited Crum in Saigon.
