Los Angeles officials described a money clash as MTA executives faced a legislative transportation subcommittee. Senator Tandolph Collier pressed Ralph Merritt on profits since March 3, with Merritt supplying figures showing revenue of 19.5 million against operating expenses of 16.6 million for March 3 to Sept 1. He cited depreciation charges and debt service, noting the general fund holds 1.2 million and 6.7 million in other reserves, while claiming the MTA operates as a state corporation not a profit maker.
