Police film drunk drivers as Costa Mesa evidence

Mass narcotics crackdown in Orange County nets 23 suspects

A seven month undercover operation led 21 four man teams to arrest 23 suspects in Orange County. A lone suspect remains at large as arrests moved toward arraignment. Among those nabbed Thursday night were Kath Jene Vaughan and Gerald Ray Jones both of Huntington Beach charged with selling narcotics along with David Cruz Latta Ang and Vern Smith tied to marijuana and dangerous drugs offenses.

Ridder Re elected President of California State College Foundation

Daniel H Ridder was reelected president of the California State College Foundation at a meeting held in Orange State College Fullerton. New officers include Charles Luckman vice president Paul Spencer secretary and Allan Sutherland treasurer, all serving one year terms. Mirada Water Rate Increase Made Permanent

The Public Utilities Commission made permanent a temporary increase for the Southwest Water Company in LA Mirada. The new permanent rate adds about 1 per year to the average household, below the company's 20 percent request and the 12.8 percent granted. Three companions sought in narcotics case in San Pedro

Sheriff deputies pursued three companions of a 20 year old shipping clerk Ernesto Barron Baldwin Park who was jailed on suspicion of selling heroin to undercover agents. Officers chased the fleeing trio after Barron’s arrest at Crestwood Street and Western Avenue. An officer was briefly struck by a car before the escape failed and two shots were fired.
