Mrs. Nhu Says Kennedy May Lull Public About Security

Mrs Ngaybad Dinh Nhu claims if President Kennedy were in charge he would inform the people about the Communist threat rather than panic the public. She spoke after a cable about security and cited her father Ngo Dinh Diem’s resignation as Saigon government tensions rose during a coast to coast speaking tour for the United States. Chuong, a Buddhist critic of the regime, noted her shift from Buddhism to Roman Catholicism.

Idlewild crash blamed on pilot and weather reporting failures

Washington reports say the 26 fatalities in the Idlewild DC-7B crash were largely due to the pilot’s approach under fog conditions and inadequate weather reporting. The Civil Aeronautics Board cites two cockpit errors and faulted the broader system for failing to warn about near zero runway visibility while noting no single agency was blamed.

Glendale lamp and sonic boom spark public letter quickly

Mrs. Berenice Kirkland asked the Air Force to send a pilot over Glendale to break the sound barrier to fix a lamp. The Air Force denied blame for a recent boom that rattled the San Fernando Valley and damaged property. She suggested the boom as a cheaper fix, while an electrician would cost seven dollars and fifty cents. The lamp remained nonfunctional and Mrs. Kirkland declined comment.
