Legislature Approves Smog Device Standards For Pre 1965 Cars
In Sacramento the Assembly approved bills to set exhaust standards for 1955 to 1965 autos and to raise the smog device cost cap from 85 to 35 dollars for used cars approved by the Air Resources Board. Both measures, passed with Senate amendments, go to Gov Reagan for signature. The bills respond to long standing limits on requiring pre 1965 vehicles to install devices unless a practical low cost option exists.

Auto license fee hike would fund local governments

The change would cover options and accessories and direct funds to local governments. A Senate panel also killed a Riverside backed bill to move the Air Resources Board main office from Sacramento to Riverside.
