Brown to head pro Johnson delegation in California

California Democrats split over Lyndon Johnson Vietnam policy as two Board of Equalization members and ex Governor Edmund G Brown urge a pro Johnson delegation for the Democratic National Convention. San Francisco's George R. Reilly and Fresno's John W. Lynch propose a Johnson ticket loyal to the president, aiming to quell critics and unify for the June primary. Brown backs a regular party delegation and a compromise among factions to support Johnson and his peace aims.
